Absentee Ballot Dates for the 2023 General Election

- October 23, 2023 is the las day for the board of elections to RECEIVE an application or letter of application by mail or online portal for a General Election Ballot
- November 6, 2023 is the last day to apply in person for a General Election Ballot
- November 7, 2023 is the last day to postmark a General Election ballot, must be received no later than November 14, 2023
- November 7, 2023 is the last day to deliver a General Absentee ballot in person to your county board or your poll site by close of polls on Election Day.

To request and absentee ballot application please either stop by our office located at 5 Court St., Norwich NY or call 607-337-1760 or 607-337-1761.

Registration Deadline

The registration deadline for the Tuesday, November 7, 2023 General Election is Saturday, October 28. Early Voting for this election will be conducted at the Chenango County Board of Elections, 5 Court Street, Norwich, NY 13815 during the following hours and dates.

Saturday and Sunday, October 28, 29, November 4 and 5, 9 AM – 5 PM
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, October 30, November 1 and 3, AM – 5 PM
Tuesday and Thursday, October 31 and November 2, 9 AM to 8 PM

Poll Worker Recruitment

Recruiting for poll workers to join our ranks to be ready for new voting machine in November. Certification training will be offered in mid-September, and, upon successful completion of certification exam, poll workers will be trained on the duties of this job, as well as the new machines. Poll workers are compensated for their time. If you have questions or would like more information, please email the Chenango County Board of Elections at boe@co.chenango.ny.us or contact Democratic Election Commissioner Carly Hendricks, 607-337-1765 or Republican Election Commissioner Mary Lou Monahan, 607-337-1764. The Presidential Election year is in 2024, so if you have been thinking about becoming a poll worker, now is a great time!

Update to Absentee Voting

Due to NYS Election Law Section-209(2)(d) if you are issued an absentee ballot, you will be unable to vote on a voting machine during early voting and on Election Day.
