Board of Elections Democratic Senior Election Clerk Vacancy
The Chenango County Board of Elections is soliciting applications for a full- time Democratic Senior Election Clerk. This is an appointed position with no term limit. Duties include but are not limited to: Extensive interaction with the public, political candidates, and poll workers in person, over the telephone and electronically. All aspects of voter registration-associated duties including computer database verification, and maintenance. Performing bipartisan team duties to prepare for elections by preparing of ballots, voting machines and supplies, and post-election reports. Must be able to work long hours on Primary and General Election days. Must work well in a team environment, and have an eye for detail. 35-hour work week Monday through Friday with additional hours necessary at certain times of the year. The position starting salary is $32,214.00 annually and includes benefits. 2023 Change of Party Enrollments received between February 15, 2023 and July 5th, 2023, will become effective July 5, 2023.

The registration deadline for the Tuesday, November 7, 2023 General Election is Saturday, October 28. Early Voting for this election will be conducted at the Chenango County Board of Elections, 5 Court Street, Norwich, NY 13815 during the following hours and dates.

Saturday and Sunday, October 28, 29, November 4 and 5, 9 AM – 5 PM
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, October 30, November 1 and 3, AM – 5 PM
Tuesday and Thursday, October 31 and November 2, 9 AM to 8 PM


If a countywide or local Primary Election is held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, the registration deadline is Saturday, June 17, 2023. Early Voting for this election will be conducted at the Chenango County Board of Elections, 5 Court Street, Norwich, NY 13815 during the following hours and dates.

Saturday and Sunday, June 17, 18, 24 and 25, 9 AM – 5 PM
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, June 19, 21 and 23, 9 AM – 5 PM
Tuesday and Thursday, June 20 and 22, 9 AM to 8 PM

Accessible Absentee Ballot Information
Voters using the accessible absentee ballot system in need of printing services in order to print their ballot can access such services at certain public printing resources, including but not limited to, libraries, print stores, shipping stores, and office supply stores. Voters should contact their local printing resources for details on the printing services offered.

In-person voting using an accessible Ballot Marking Device (“BMD”) during early voting or on Election Day is still available to voters with a disability who do not want to vote by absentee ballot using the accessible absentee ballot system.

Update to Absentee Voting
Due to NYS Election Law Section-209(2)(d) if you are issued an absentee ballot, you will be unable to vote on a voting machine during early voting and on Election Day.
