—OMBUDSMAN— WHAT, WHO, WHERE, WHY AND WOULD YOU? What is an Ombudsman? An Ombudsman is an advocate for residents in a long term care facility. Through friendly visits with the residents, the Ombudsman hears, investigates and resolves concerns. Who is an Ombudsman? An Ombudsman is a dedicated, caring volunteer who has completed a mandated 36-hour certification training. Where does the Ombudsman volunteer? The Ombudsman volunteers in a long term care facility such as a nursing home or an adult home. Why does the Ombudsman volunteer? Many of the Ombudsmen volunteers would tell you that they are helping residents have a better quality of life by assisting them with issues that come up. This is especially true for the residents that have no one else to speak for them. The Ombudsmen believe they are making a difference!
